Set high on the hills over looking Loch Duich in the Scottish Highlands is Tigh An Aullt, a traditional three-bedroom cottage comfortably accommodating up to six.

Tigh An Aullt is a lovely, tastefully decorated cottage, which is well-furnished and ideal for either couples or families. It offers the perfect place to relax and explore the amazing landscape that surrounds the cottage.

Tigh An Aullt is situated at the foot of the Five Sisters of Kintail, a famous set of Munros, which draw climbers throughout the year.

This classic Highland cottage is the highest property in the village of Ault a’chruinn, and is nestled tight into the hillside. A spate stream full of large boulders, flows down the hillside beside the cottage garden.

The cottage has a large triple aspect living room perfect for admiring the view, a well-equipped kitchen, a separate dining room, and three good sized bedrooms, including a Master with double bed and en-suite bathroom, a twin and a bunk room. There is also a large family bathroom complete with Swedish Sauna, which is ideal for those that have been walking the Munros.

With panoramic views over the loch and mountains you can simply sit back and admire your surroundings, whilst looking out for some of the local wildlife, including the Pine Marten and deer.

Location

Whether you come from Fort William on the west side of Scotland or via Inverness on the east side, Tigh An Aullt is approached via one of the most awe-inspiring glens in the Scottish Highlands. Cluanie Glen is truly magnificent with its majestic mountains, its rugged rivers and its gorgeous lochs. The colours of the Highlands at any time of the year are truly breath-taking.

Tigh An Aullt is in a wonderful position for seeing some of the Scottish Highland highlights, such as the Isle of Skye, with Skye Bridge only 15 miles away. For day trips there is Eilean Donan Castle, Plockton, Torridon and Applecross all within easy reach, and for convenience a restaurant and village shop are within walking distance.

“Arrived at 5am in pitch darkness with no idea what lay ahead in daylight - what a view! Had rain nearly every day but who cares! Warxwings visited and stripped all the trees of berries and saw two kestrels. Definitely be back.”

ACTIVITIES

Whist staying at Tigh An Aullt there are excellent opportunities to experience a number of outdoor activities. The cottage lies at the foot of the Five Sisters of Kintail, a series of three Munros, which have magnificent views. There are also other Munros nearby for those looking to add to their collection.

For cyclists many routes are easily accessible, including the ultimate ride over the Bealach Na Ba, which leads to the very pretty seaside village of Applecross. Other activities include kayaking, fishing, whale watching and pony trekking.
